This year, the Church Periodical Club held the Triennium Meeting on June 13 and 15 via Zoom. The keynote speaker was Dr. Renee Escoffery-Torres of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Pittsburgh, PA.
Her message encouraged members to remember the history of the Church Periodical Club and to continue supporting the ministry, as it is the only organization providing literature and printed materials for both religious and secular use. The grants are given worldwide.
Dr. Escoffery-Torres shared examples of ministries that had no other way to afford printed materials for their work.
There was also a report from Dr. Stephen Uche of St. Mark's Anglican Church, Umunachi Obowu. He showed pictures of a mud-made church and spoke of grants from Miles of Pennies that provided children’s materials. The National Book Fund has also supplied books and Bibles in the Nigerian language so members of the church can read them in their native tongue. They are very grateful for the grants from CPC that made these purchases possible, and Dr. Uche hopes another grant will be given next year.
The National Book Fund received nine grant requests for adult ministries and support to nine seminaries, totaling $21,803.60. The Miles of Pennies fund granted four requests for children’s ministries, totaling $3,327.55.
The fundraiser for grants began in January 2025 with the raffling of four CPC quilts, which raised $2,185. The Diocese of Hawai‘i contributed an additional $300 toward the raffle.
Thank you to all who supported the ministry of the Church Periodical Club through donations or membership dues.
