Province VIII Creation Care Conference Report
August 17, 2026
Miriam Casey and Bill Shreve, Conference Chairs
The earth is the LORD’s and all that is in it, the world and all who dwell therein.
Psalm 24:1

Organization and planning for the Province VIII Creation Care Conference on September 25-27 in Salt Lake City is progressing well. We have 40 speakers and paid registrants from 12 of the 18 dioceses within the province and a few from outside Province VIII. With six weeks to go, we are implementing a publicity blitz to get more people registered.
The top goals of the conference are to communicate the spiritual foundations of Creation Care in the Episcopal and First People’s cultures and to give attendees the process and resources for mitigating climate change impacts and reducing their impact on the climate. We are doing this with focused sessions on the spiritual foundations of creation care, water management, clean air, fire risk management, and land use. The full program is available here: PROGRAM. Registration is available here: REGISTER. We view this conference as the kickoff for creation care activities across the province and the launching of an interactive network of action and support. The conference will be followed by a series of discussion groups and interactive webinars on creation care subjects of interest.
We thank Province VIII for all the support we are getting for our work with Evita providing encouragement, Steve Welch providing web design support and the Province VIII Grant for financial support. We could not have gotten this far without your help.
We could use your help, too. We are working to get attendance up to about 100. We have good materials to publicize the conference, but we need to get them out to diocesan communicators and congregations across the province. Please, publicize the conference in your dioceses and parish newsletters. Here is a link to PUBLICITY RESOURCES for newsletters, bulletins, and social media. Thank you!
Peace and blessings,
Bill (wrshreve@gmail.com) and Miriam (province8ccn@gmail.com)
