President’s Report August 2026
August 2026
Dear friends in Christ,
As our Province continues navigating hurricanes, flooding, devastating fires, hazardous air quality, recovery from previous fires, and winter floods, it is important to lean into God's Love and the family and networks that our faith and communities offer. Throughout the Province work in ministries continues to rise up with prayers answered and more prayers petitioned.
Several writings have surfaced regarding the recent fires in Eastern Washington, mirroring the challenges of the fires in Lahaina, Pacific Palisades, Paradise, Santa Rosa. As the smoke settles and wafts through the regions, we are mindful that it carries remnants of what was: homes, memories, particles of plants, animals, toys, toxic and other uninvited particles that enter our homes and our bodies. This reminds us that everything is connected—sometimes linked to our choices, often beyond our control. We must be mindful of being many members yet one body. How can we, how are we able to respond?
As many members yet one body, the body of Christ carries us through when we support one another, listen to different perspectives, and embody the way of love. We believe in the one who has called us to the table to learn, take action and lean into our faith. As children of the resurrection, we believe and live into hope, faith, new life and love.
This summer our Province welcomed Bishop Antonio Gallardo as bishop of Los Angeles. The celebration was spirit filled and reflective of the prayerful thought and planning that went into the election and transition. We continue to pray for this new ministry. We lift up the dioceses of Taiwan and Hawaii as they continue in their transitions, and for Navajoland in their election process.
